Spoodle

Spoodle = Cocker Spaniel x Poodle

Kruizen Puppies breed first generation Spoodle puppies.

The Spoodle is a hybrid breed that is produced when crossing a Cocker Spaniel with a Poodle.

The benefits associated a first generation Spoodle is that they have a more diverse genetic build than purebreds, this reduces possibilities of disease and other genetic conditions that affect the parent breeds. They are also hypoallergenic, that is, unlikely to cause allergy in humans, so they would suit a family who are known allergy sufferers perfectly. Spoodles are compatible with a variety of people who will provide love and attention to their new addition.

This pup will love to be included with any family activity as they love attention! Spoodles, as with all ‘oodle’ breeds are very intelligent and thrive on training, so puppy preschool is a must.

This breed is quite active, requiring regular walks and trips to the park to play fetch are necessary to prevent this energetic pup from getting into mischief. Spoodles adore water so it is great to get them into swimming as early as possible, whether this is at the beach or your local river.

Spoodle Size & Colouring

A great deal of variability can occur amongst puppies of the same breed and even the same litter, the genetic build of each puppy influences their appearance, with some pups appearing more Poodle-like and others more Cocker Spaniel. Therefore, it is impossible to predict the exact size a pup will grow. Spoodles can be a variety of sizes depending on what sized poodle they are crossed with, here at Kruizen Puppies we breed toy, mini and standard Spoodles. All sizes of Spoodle will be medium sized dogs, the size ranges are as follows:

Toy and Mini Spoodles (4-12kg and 25cm-40cm in height)

Standard Spoodles (12-25kg and 35-50cm in height)

Spoodle colours also vary in each litter, with the possibility of anything from blonde, brown, black and gold. Here at Kruizen Puppies we specialise in red and gold Spoodles.

Spoodle Maintenance and Other Needs

Spoodles are a semi long haired breed that can either grow curly, wavy or straight, in a fleece or wool coat depending on the genetic contributions of each puppy. They are a low to non-shedding breed that require regular exercise and moderate to large sized yard. As Spoodles are very intelligent dogs it is important to incorporate puppy preschool into your training routine, it is good for both the pups obedience and social skills. Spoodles are very energetic puppies so it may be best to go for a walk or exercise before teaching them new tricks. The amount of grooming required is very dependent on the type of coat each individual pup inherits. All Spoodles will require some form of grooming and clipping, especially those with a curly, non-shedding (wool) coat, as it will not fall out. However, fleece coat pups will not require as much maintenance, just regular brushing and the occasional clip. Dogs with a more predominantly poodle type coat also need regular brushing to prevent knotting. Spoodle ears, as with all long-eared dogs, need cleaning regularly to prevent infection. Also, around the eyes should be cleaned daily to prevent buildup of eye discharge.

Spoodles are fantastic family pets who love children, due to good quality breeding our Spoodles are excellent companions for all age groups.  This breed has a fantastic temperament, are friendly and outgoing, making them a great addition to any family. Please be mindful that this breed do require regular exercise to live a happy and fulfilling life.
